Xunlight Corporation, a leader in the design, development and manufacture of flexible and lightweight thin-film silicon solar modules, announced today that it has received certification under the requirements of IEC 61646 and 61730 standards.
This certificate was granted after rigorous testing by TÜV InterCert GROUP, an independent certification organization, and confirms that Xunlight's flexible and lightweight solar module technology meets the guidelines set forth by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for safety, quality and performance assurance.
With this certification, Xunlight is now part of a very small group of flexible solar module manufacturers eligible to sell into the European marketplace. Five of the company's products with wattages up to 307 watts per module and use in systems up to 1000 Volt DC, have been approved. The certified modules include those with widths of both 91 cm and 48 cm wide, and a total length up to 5.5 meters long. The new certifications are an important complement to Xunlight's existing UL 1703 standard certifications for the North American market.
These IEC 61646/61730 and UL1703 certified products are produced using Xunlight's 25MW roll-to-roll solar cell production line and are available in high volume. Xunlight currently has a European sales backlog of close to $60 million, and this certification allows the company to deliver initial quantities to its European partners for installation on commercial rooftops and other applications.
"This is a major milestone in Xunlight's efforts to become a world-leading producer of low-cost, high-powered flexible and lightweight solar modules," said Xunming Deng, Xunlight's President and CEO. "I am also happy to announce that we have made our first shipment today of IEC certified product to a European customer."
