GLOBALFOUNDRIES is collaborating with the nanoelectronics research and development center, imec on its core sub-22nm core CMOS program, to create processes to be used in mass production of logic and memory ICs.
The program involves material and device research, tool and process analysis, integration and platforms for advanced ICs.
The company will also work on EUV lithography device technology to be used in logic and memory, nano-interconnects and three- dimension incorporation into other integrated device manufacturers (IDMs), foundries, fabless and fablite companies, tools and material suppliers who belong to imec’s research family.
The company will also associate with the imec GaN research program, which addresses cost-effective GaN devices on silicon. It brings IDMs, foundries, compound semiconductor companies, equipment and substrate suppliers to a single platform in an endeavor to develop 8inch GaN technology on silicon.
Luc Van den hove, president and chief executive officer of imec, announced that the collaboration will strengthen the company’s research and development efforts in future.
