Knowles Electronics declared that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has confirmed that the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) decided that MEMS Technology Berhard’s (MemsTech) sale and importation of specific MEMS microphone products violates U.S. Patents 6,781,231 and 7,242,089 belonging to Knowles.
According to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Knowles’s patents are legal and enforceable. The Court of Appeals issued an order stopping MemsTech from importing such infringed products into the country.
The President and CEO of Knowles Electronics, Jeffrey Niew, stated that Knowles is content that the Federal Circuit has confirmed that their patents are valid. He added that they will strongly persist in protecting their intellectual property, sustain the development of advanced products for the markets, and ensure return of investment through research and development.
The patents are associated with the company’s SiSonic MEMS microphone packaging technology and microphones. These patents also cover multiple variations of SiSonic microphones and manufacturing techniques. The company designs and manufactures advanced acoustic parts. Its receivers and microphones are essential for the hearing health sector. Knowles also delivers MEMS microphones for key cell phone firms and consumer electronic equipment.
