Topcon Positioning Systems will be providing its Aquila hybrid optical and scanning electron microscope to be used on Biobus, which is a mobile education laboratory.
The Biobus, which has been created by Cell Motion Laboratories is a non profit organisation focussing on making scientific experiments more exciting for people of all ages. The hybrid microscope was introduced by Topcon in July.
With the help of the microscope, students will be able to view objects at 30X and 50,000X optical magnification levels as a scanning electron microscope. This is much more ahead of the viewing levels that are normally adopted in mobile environments. According to Erik Truxal, the sales manager for Aquila in North America, the Biobus is the ideal way of demonstrating the simplicity, functionality and versatility of the microscope and the partnership with Cell Motion Laboratories will enable students and the general public to use the excellent features of the microscope. The Biobus hosts around 10,000 students every year and an additional 10,000 from the general public pass through the Biobus every year during public events. Topcon Positioning Systems specialises in designing and manufacturing accurate positioning solutions and products for applications such as agriculture, global surveying, civil engineering, GIS, mapping, asset management, mobile control and construction. The company is owned by Topcon Corporation.
