Arrow Electronics has extended its line of offerings with the introduction of SiTime’s line of advanced Stratum 3 compliant MEMS oscillators called the SiT530x that is developed as a substitute for TCXOs and OCXOs.
SiTime and Arrow Electronics had inked a worldwide distribution deal in February 2011. Since then, the two companies have been aggressively marketing MEMS clock generators and oscillators in Asia to promote the substitution of quartz crystal-based timing solutions with silicon MEMS. With the introduction of the SiT530x family, the MEMS-based silicon timing solutions will now be accepted widely by the electronics industry.
Esmond Wong, who serves as Arrow Asia Pac’s Vice President of Business Development, commented that Arrow Electronics partnered with SiTime to offer low-cost, high-efficiency MEMS-based solutions as a replacement for quartz to its customers in the Asian region. SiTime is a pioneer in timing solutions and keeps on setting new standards in cost and performance, Wong said. The combination of Arrow Electronics’ market reach in Asia and SiTime’s advanced technology enables them to deliver MEMS-based silicon timing systems with minimum cost of ownership and shorter lead times, he added.
SiTime’s Vice President of Marketing, Piyush Sevalia stated that with its superior value-added services and global footprint, Arrow Electronics plays a major role in guiding the electronics industry in the shift from quartz solutions to MEMS-based timing solutions. With the SiT530x portfolio, Arrow Electronics can offer reliable and high-performance timing solutions for its customers for a broad array of applications including storage computing, communication, networking and telecom, he added.
