The NanoBusiness Commercialization Association (NanoBCA) has announced that it will co-host the Nanotechnology Commercialization Conference together with the Center of Innovation for Nanobiotechnology (COIN) and the N.C. Department of Commerce.
The Nanotechnology Commercialization Conference, a pioneering event for nanotechnology innovators, visionary investors, top researchers and high-tech early stage companies, will be conducted at the American Tobacco Campus from 4 to 5 April, 2012 in Research Triangle, North Carolina.
Nanotechnology has become the core of the materials science arena over the last decade and has helped in the development of ground-breaking innovations in biotechnology, electronics and clean energy. The NanoBCA’s Executive Director, Vincent Caprio stated that North Carolina is a center for nanotechnology, especially in the biotechnology sector. In the state, more than 40 companies are involved in the nanobiotechnology field and innovative research works are being carried out at major universities, including Wake Forest, NC State, UNC and Duke.
According to John Hardin, who serves as the Executive Director at the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Office of Science & Technology, this conference helps nanoscience to advance from the laboratory to the worldwide market. It will focus on the pioneering role of North Carolina and assist participants in converting up-and-coming nanotechnologies into high-salaried, skilled jobs, he added.
COIN’s Executive Director, Griffith A. Kundahl stated that the partnering of the NanoBCA, the nanotechnology field’s founding business organization with COIN is highly gratifying and shows the leadership of North Carolina in the field of nanotechnology. COIN hosted the Micro-Nano Systems Conference last summer in Greensboro, North Carolina.
