The NanoMaterials Innovation Center Appoints Alan Rae as CEO

The NanoMaterials Innovation Center LLC (NMIC) in Alfred, NY welcomes Dr. Alan Rae as CEO. Dr. Rae has extensive experience in product commercialization and business development in Ceramics, Electronics and Alternative Energy.

Most recently, as founder of TPF Enterprises LLC he conducted SBIR and BAA funded research for the US Air Force and Army Corps of Engineers and consulted extensively on topics ranging from solar module construction and cell structure commercialization to graphene commercialization, novel circuit board materials, ceramic components and electronics waterproofing. He is a NYSERDA Entrepreneur in Residence and serves on their Directed Energy Committee. He is active in industry organizations including ANSI-TC229 (Nanotechnologies) and iNEMI where he serves as Director of Research.

(ATRI), it has close and symbiotic relationships with Alfred University and Clarkson University and the foundation has been laid for cooperation with other great institutions including Alfred State College, SUNY Buffalo and SUNY Binghamton" said Rae, "NMIC is also a unique center of excellence in leading-edge microwave processing of materials for high-efficiency phosphors and other applications."

Jon Wilder, Executive Director of ATRI stated that, "Alan brings with him a wealth of knowledge and valuable experience. We are looking forward to working with him on the development of microwave-related nanotechnology research at the NMIC."

Dr. Frank Thiel, Chairman of the Board of ATRI noted that the company undertook a nationwide search for suitable candidates. He observed that "In Alan we have found the perfect fit for both our technical and our managerial requirements. Working with our dedicated staff, he will expand existing activities and develop new opportunities."

The Nanomaterials Innovation Center enables technology transfer in inorganic nanomaterials science and microwave processing technology offered through a unique research and prototyping center that focuses on encouraging market driven collaborations between universities, industry, and private laboratories.

The Center provides access to equipment, facilities, and infrastructure on a toll basis in support of new ventures as well as critical technology in microwave processing, inorganic nano-materials processing, and supportive peripheral product development as it relates to new technological evolutions.

The NMIC is a supportive environment where advanced research, incubation of new technologies, and transfer to industrial partners is made possible; and an ideal partner for university collaborations providing research resources and supporting principal investigators for SBIR/STTR and CRADAS research grants.
