Nanotechnology Company Synkera to Participate in 2012 Pittsburgh Conference

Synkera Technologies, a nanotechnology company specializing in gas detection, separation, filtration and support products for the clean technology, air quality, and life and bio sciences markets, will participate in the Pittsburgh Conference to be conducted from March 11 to 15, 2012 in Orlando, Florida.

Synkera’s new products based on its nanostructured alumina ceramic technology platform for 2012 are UniKera ultrafiltration membranes, UniKera Membrane Sample Packs, UniKera UF membrane sample packs, and UniKera grids and discs.

The UniKera UF membranes feature a thin active layer, a support layer containing large-diameter pores and high pore density, thus allowing high fluid permeance. With these features, the membranes demonstrate high flux and accurate and controllable cut-off over molecular weight. These membranes are used in fractioning water-soluble polymers and proteins.

The UniKera membrane sample pack comprises three membrane discs with each having a thickness of 50 µm, a diameter of 13 mm and a pore diameter of 18, 35, 55, 80, 100 and 150 nm, or three 10x10 mm square membranes with each having a thickness of 50 µm and a pore diameter of18, 35, 55, 80, 100 nm.

The UniKera UF membrane sample pack comprises a 150-nm-pore-diameter support layer, three active layers with each having a pore diameter of 3, 5, 8, 13, 18 and 35 nm, and membrane discs with a thickness of 50 µm and a diameter of 13 mm.

The UniKera grids and discs for use in microscopy decrease time for specimen preparation and offer superior image quality for materials science, biophysics and cell biology applications. Grids, which are standard 200 mesh, have an integrated thin film of 100 nm. Discs have a thickness of 50 µm and a diameter of 3 mm. Window size, flexible design, extreme temperature capable, hydrophilic, non-toxic, biocompatible, decreased beam-induced movement, optically transparent with least fluorescence background, superior chemical and thermal resistance and wafer-style packaging are some of the features of UniKera grids and discs.
