Pratt + Whitney Canada Licenses Integran’s Nano Cobalt Electroplating Process

Pratt & Whitney Canada based in Montreal has licensed Integran Technologies’ nano cobalt electroplating process (Nanovate CoP) to deploy as a replacement for hard chromium electroplating used in gas turbine power plant for aerospace applications.

Integran Technologies’ Nanovate CoP electroplating process can be utilized as an alternative to current chromium plating processes, which cause harmful health issues ranging from skin ulcerations to lung cancers. The nano cobalt electroplating process not only prevents these adverse health issues but also decreases water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

The President and Chief Executive Officer at Integran Technologies, Dr. Gino Palumbo stated that the license deal between the company and Pratt & Whitney Canada is an important landmark in the continuing expansion of the company’s Nanovate CoP plating technology in the industrial and aerospace sectors.

Integran Technologies based in Toronto provides sophisticated metallurgical nano-technologies to a broad range of industrial customers. The company offers innovative process & product design solutions via technology licensing, research and development, contract manufacturing and material sales.

Integran and its forerunner companies have been involved in the development of metallurgical nano-technology for over two decades. The company is recognized for materials technology advancement and commercialization. It has more than 250 patents, covering the processes, compositions, structures and applications of its innovative materials, to produce metallurgical nano-structures at a lower cost.
