AOAC Certifies FoodChek’s MICT Nanotechnology Based Listeria spp. Testing

FoodChek Systems Inc. ("FoodChek" or the "Corporation") is very proud to announce that the AOAC Research Institute, the approval body for all U.S. food safety tests, has validated and certified as a Performance Tested Method ("PTM"), FoodChek's patent pending Actero™ Listeria Enrichment Media (License #111201) and the FoodChek™ Listeria spp. Assay Cassette (License #111202).

Both are technological breakthroughs; the first product an enhanced enrichment medium for the detection of Listeria spp., and the second an effective Listeria spp. test method on stainless steel and plastic food contact environmental surfaces.

The impact of this announcement gives the Corporation the ability to grow substantially and is another step forward, in FoodChek's mission to provide faster, more accurate and cost-effective processes for testing food safely. Securing the AOAC PTM Certification, previously with our "same shift" E. coli O157 assay (including enrichment phase), and now with the "same day" Listeria spp. assay opens the door for FoodChek to introduce its patented MICT nanotechnology testing platform to all processors worldwide. This is excellent news for those processors that are unsatisfied with the current standards and methods for testing in the wake of several recalls and health scares.

William J. Hogan, President and CEO, stated: "The combination of these Listeria spp. game-changing detecting products, with test results in less than 24 hours (including the enrichment phase), are now available for use in all in-house and external laboratories, and by all processors. This gives FoodChek access to a potential international food testing market for Listeria spp. of $550 million literally overnight. While these numbers are impressive, they pale when compared to the financial upside FoodChek is offering to processors determined to protect their brands from reputation crushing recall disasters resulting from inferior or time consuming testing methods."

Dr. R. Michael Giuffre, Chief Scientific Officer stated: "With the addition of the Actero™ Media and the Assay Cassette for Listeria spp., we immediately open the global market to FoodChek and bring true easy-to-use rapid testing to all processors everywhere with the fastest "time-to-results" for all of their food safety testing needs. Actero™ Listeria Enrichment Media, the first enrichment media to be awarded the prestigious AOAC PTM Certification, will be the driver of both the early and long-term success of FoodChek as a company."
