Nanotech Briefs Accepting Nominations for 3rd Annual Nano 50 Awards

Nanotech Briefs magazine is now accepting nominations for its third annual Nano 50 awards competition, which launched on December 1, 2006. The Nano 50 awards recognizes and honors the top 50 innovators, products, and technological advancements that demonstrate the greatest potential toward developing the commercialization of nanotechnology.

Previous winners of the prestigious award include companies such as:

  • Motorola
  • General Motors
  • IBM
  • Easton Sports

“The Nano 50 awards competition is the only program that recognizes our industry's efforts to significantly impact the daily life of the consumer through advancements in nanotechnology,” said Ahmed Busnaina, Ph.D., William Lincoln Smith Chair Professor and director of the NSEC for High Rate Nanomanufacturing and the NSF Center for Nano and Microcontamination Control at Northeastern University; Nano 50 winner in the Innovator category for 2006; and member of the 2007 Nanotech Briefs Editorial Advisory Board.

Nominations are accepted via an online submission form at no charge through April 2, 2007, at the official awards’ Web site: www.nanotechbriefs.com/nano50.

Submissions can be made in the following categories:

Innovator – An individual recognized as a leader or pioneer in a specific area of nanotechnology, with a significant background of accomplishments in advancing the development of nanotechnology.

Technology – A nanotechnology breakthrough that has, or is expected to have, a significant impact in one or more application areas.

Product – A product that incorporates nanotechnology in its design and/or operation with significant current or near-term commercial applications.

The awards will be presented at a special Nano 50 Awards Dinner held during the NASA Tech Briefs’ National Nano Engineering Conference (NNEC), scheduled for November 14–15, 2007, at the Marriott Boston Copley Place. Visit www.techbriefs.com/nano for more information about the NNEC.
