Three Silicon Valley Semiconductor Labs Merge To Form Nano Integrated Solutions

Three of Silicon Valley’s leading semiconductor service labs — Berkeley Consulting Services, Inc.(1996), FIB International, Inc.(1996), and Nano Measurements, Inc.(2003), in an unprecedented move, announced today that they have entered into agreement to merge the three firms simultaneously to form Nano Integrated Solutions, Inc. With five labs operating in North America supporting chip firms from the U.S., Europe, and Asia, the formation of Nano Integrated Solutions is already attracting a great deal of attention in the semiconductor industry before the merger’s effective date of July 1st, 2007.

The new venture was established by the three founders to answer the growing need among fabless semiconductor design firms for an independent, vertically integrated, turnkey services laboratory capable of taking a firm’s chip from initial design through to production at a single lab in an industry where companies are under increasing pressure to focus on their core competence of IC design while struggling to find a vendor with the expertise and breadth of services to handle critical requirements such as Test, Failure Analysis, Reliability Qualification, and PCB Design — services that until now typically required the daily engagement of multiple vendors. “What makes this so unique and so attractive to our customers is that they can get a full service solution with us — all of the engineering talent and necessary tools for each of the services is found in one place,” said Majid Ghafghaichi, one of the founders and CEO of Nano Integrated Solutions, Inc.
