Formulatrix, Inc. announced today that its new liquid handler, the Formulator, has won the Association for Laboratory Automation's prestigious New Product Award (NPA) Designation. The award was presented to Formulatrix on January 29 at LabAutomation2008, the world’s leading conference and exhibition on laboratory automation and emerging technologies.
The Formulator is a next-generation liquid handler that uses patent-pending microfluidic technology to dispense liquids into microplates. It dispenses grids, dilutions, and random experiments up to ten times faster than any other liquid handler available today. For example, it can dispense a 3 ingredient, 100uL, 96-well grid in 60 seconds.
The award was granted based on the following criteria: technical originality, anticipated impact on the field of laboratory automation, supporting data that respects universal scientific methodology, and market demand. According to ALA, "Products that receive the ALA NPA Designation illustrate the one-step-ahead commitment to efficiency and effectiveness that is unique to the professional specialty of laboratory automation."
“We are grateful to ALA for this recognition,” said Jeremy Stevenson, President of Formulatrix. “We believe this new technology can revolutionize the way much of liquid handling is done.”
