Lukas Howald, chairman of the board of directors and co-founder of Nanosurf, officially announced the opening of a Nanosurf subsidiary in the US during his talk on the company’s contribution to the NASA Phoenix Mars Mission at the SwissPavillion at the NSTI Nanotech 2008 nanotechnology conference and trade show at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Massachusetts. “We are proud to announce the opening of our new US branch”, thus Howald.
To react to the increasing global demand for easy-to-use nano-microscopes in science and industry, Nanosurf AG decided to establish its own subsidiary in the US, Nanosurf Inc., to match this growing need. Complementing the services of NanoScience, distributor of Nanosurf products in the US and specialist for the education market — the field in which Nanosurf is world leader as provider of scanning probe microscopes (AFM and STM) — US customers can now be served more directly by combining the resources and expertise of the two companies.
“Global presence ensures the best possible service for our customers” says Robert Sum, CEO of Nanosurf AG, “since local demands can be efficiently taken into account and dealt with. Our strong ties to the US made a local US office the next logical step”.
Nanosurf AG develops and sells Scanning Tunneling and Atomic Force Microscopes. Their main use lies in metrological surface inspection and the visualization of structures on the nanometer scale. Three attributes distinguish Nanosurf’s microscopes from those of other manufacturers:
- They are compact and portable, ideal for on-site use.
- They have a uniquely attractive price-performance ratio.
- They combine ease-of-use with top precision measurements.
Nanosurf AG spun off from the University of Basel in 1997. The company has continuously expanded over the past eleven years, and today counts well over 25 employees.
Nanosurf Inc. is located on the East Coast in the vicinity of New York City:
