The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering ("CNSE") and International SEMATECH partnered on a recent public service project that will provide important community support in the Capital Region.
Employees from CNSE and SEMATECH's Resist Test Center ("RTC"), a lithography materials testing center, joined together to volunteer on a project for Capital District Habitat for Humanity, donating their time to build a house so that a qualified family can have a home to call their own.
"CNSE and SEMATECH support activities that help build a stronger, more vital community," said CNSE Principal Engineer, Program Manager and SEMATECH RTC team member Warren Montgomery. "We enjoy taking the opportunity to build relationships among team members as we help our community. Previously, we worked with the Regional Food Bank to help alleviate food shortages in the Capital Region."
Through the Capital District Habitat for Humanity, the team worked to rebuild a house that once belonged to firefighter Theodore "Teddy" Abriel, who died in the line of duty after climbing six floors in a burning high-rise building. Once complete, the house will be given to a family in need.
