Austin-based KLD Energy Technologies, Inc. has secured the worldwide, exclusive rights to license and produce Green Ray Technologies' patented, high-frequency, low RPM, transmissionless motor system for two- and three-wheeled vehicles.
“We are excited to expand the reach of our agreement with Green Ray Technologies. We’ve worked for the past year to bring this cutting-edge technology to life by taking it from prototype to production,” said Christian Okonsky, founder and CEO of KLD Energy Technologies and its subsidiary, KLD Motors America, Inc. (KMA).
Through the agreement, KLD Energy Technologies and KMA are able to expand into markets worldwide where two- to three-wheeled vehicles are becoming an increasingly popular and necessary form of transportation.
Using the patented technology, KLD Energy Technologies, and its subsidiary KMA, are producing a high-performance motor system which uses a nano-crystalline composite material to conduct energy more efficiently than traditional, iron-core motors. The high-frequency to low RPM ratio eliminates the need for a transmission, substantially increasing the efficiency of the motor. The highly responsive system enables two- and three-wheeled electric vehicles to attain speeds and performance levels available in gas-powered vehicles.
Earlier this year KMA announced a deal with Sufat, the leading Vietnamese scooter manufacturer, to produce its high-performance motor for a new line of scooters being launched by the company. Production of the motors is slated to begin in the fourth quarter at KMA’s manufacturing facility in Hanoi, Vietnam.
“Leveraging the technology and our production capabilities, we are working to bring a new solution to electric vehicles that breaks-through traditional performance barriers. Our agreement serves as a solid platform for growth,” continued Okonsky.
