ComGenex Continuous Flow Bench Top Hydrogenation Reactor Unit - New Product

ComGenex Inc., a leading drug discovery service provider, disclosed today that is has completed the initial phase of the integration of the first ever continuous flow, bench top hydrogenation unit to be used in multi mode function including, parallel synthesis, individual synthesis and scale up. The unit, developed by ComGenex' spin off company, Thales Nanotechnology Inc., utilizes unique microfluidics, internal hydrogen generation and replaceable catalytic reaction chambers to safely carry out a wide variety of catalytic hydrogenations up to 100 bars and 100 degree C. The shoe-box sized unit is fully portable and easy to use in small scale, high throughput chemical library format or with individual compounds.

According to Dr. Ferenc Darvas, President and Chairman of Thales "We are proud that we were able to achieve the technical objectives needed to develop this prototype which will be refined and mass produced for commercial launch later this year. This unit will make it possible for chemists to safely carry out small as well as large scale, routine hydrogenations at the bench without having to resort to the cumbersome bombs currently used."

According to Dr. László Ürge, CEO of ComGenex Inc., "ComGenex has tested these units extensively and used it in the production of several exclusive custom libraries to date. It also provided great support to our ongoing medicinal chemistry projects. Once it is commercially available, we expect that it will revolutionize how catalytic hydrogenations are carried out in medicinal chemistry labs in the future."
