Background
K.G. Neoh is currently a Professor at the National University of Singapore.
Her primary research interests are in the areas of nanotechnology and surface/molecular
engineering of materials for biomedical applications. Prof. Neoh's group
is investigating ways to manipulate the chemical functionalities and nano/micro
features of surfaces to achieve selective interactivity with biomolecules and
cells. The research is multidisciplinary in nature, and the group collaborates
closely with investigators in orthopedic surgery, cancer research, diagnostic
imaging and dentistry.
Prof. Neoh's group is currently working on the following projects:
- Synthesis and functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles for stem
cell tracking, and cancer imaging and targeting
- Surface and materials modification strategies for combating biomaterials-centered
infections
- Development of antimicrobial nano/micro-particles and surfaces
- Development of hydrogels and scaffolds for tissue engineering
- Surface cue tailoring for directing and enhancing osteogenic and
endothelial differentiation of stem cells
