Infineon to Transfer 130-nm Automotive-Qualified SPT9 Process Technology to UMC

The semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies AG and United Microelectronics Corporation, a leading global semiconductor foundry, today announced the extension of their manufacturing partnership into power semiconductors for automotive applications. Prior to this expanded partnership, the foundry had been producing Infineon’s logic chips for more than 15 years.

Sanan Places Order for 50 Veeco EPIK700 GaN MOCVD Reactors for LED Production

Veeco Instruments Inc. announced today that Sanan Optoelectronics, the largest LED manufacturer in China, has ordered 50 TurboDisc® EPIK700™ Gallium Nitride (GaN) Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) reactors for the production of light emitting diodes (LEDs). This order is the equivalent of 25 EPIK700 MOCVD “C2” (cluster) systems. In keeping with its bookings policy, Veeco will record the purchase order as deposits are received.
