Luidia, Inc., the award-winning developer of eBeam® interactive whiteboard technology for classrooms and conference rooms, today introduced eBeam Edge™, the smallest, lightest, best-performing portable interactive whiteboard system ever created. Incorporating slick new design and numerous performance enhancements, it is significantly more compact and easier to use and offers even faster response than previous systems.
The new eBeam Edge is the next-generation hardware version of Luidia’s eBeam interactive whiteboard system, of which more than 250,000 have been sold to date. Like previous eBeam systems, it works with standard computers, projectors and a variety of input devices to transform existing whiteboards and writing surfaces into interactive whiteboards. Luidia’s patented technology makes it easy for users to present, annotate and interact with projected content, while capturing the results, which can be shared over the Internet for remote meetings.
“Our customers can now equip a classroom with a wealth of cutting-edge technology, including the eBeam Edge interactive whiteboard, document camera, wireless tablets and more for less than the price of a basic model from other suppliers,” said Rafi Holtzman, Luidia president and CEO. “The all-new hardware platform, which uses superior MEMs technology and DSP-based processing, provides exceptional quality at an extremely affordable price.”
The eBeam Edge system includes a newly-designed receiver, stylus and upgraded software. The new receiver, smaller than a TV remote control and weighing less than 4 ounces, provides increased accuracy, higher resolution and faster response. It can be mounted in more locations on the whiteboard and its built-in magnetic mounting system provides easier, more consistent placement, reducing the need for recalibration.
The new eBeam Stylus is thinner and more ergonomic, for easier handling by users with smaller hands. It offers faster, more precise notation with virtually no lag time, and increased switch sensitivity for more natural writing and drawing.
The latest eBeam Interact™ software includes several new features for eBeam Edge systems, including a version designed specifically for business users. In addition, the new system is more resistant to interference, and accommodates a larger (9 feet by 5 feet) data-capture area than any other portable interactive system.
Reviews from users of early eBeam Edge test systems have been very positive. “The new stylus is much easier to handle because it is smaller in all dimensions,” says Elizabeth Rief, a Latin teacher at Summit School Winston-Salem, N.C. “It was easier to interact with websites because the calibration was more accurate than any other interactive whiteboard product I’ve used.”
“The new receiver is nicely streamlined. I really liked the magnetic attachment,” says Andy Russell, a graduate student in the Learning, Design and Technology Program at Stanford University. “It’s small enough to use on many kinds of surfaces &ndash whiteboards, walls, tabletops, TV screens and other large monitors.”
The eBeam Edge system will be demonstrated for the first time at Luidia’s booth No. 2921 at InfoComm 09, scheduled for June 17-19, 2009, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
