The EuroNanoForum 2011 displayed nanotechnologies which can provide solutions in challenging areas such as ageing populations, resource efficiency, and renewable energy.
Members of the nanotechnology forum made presentations on solutions for various aspects such as retinal and cochlear implants, nanoparticle-based cancer therapies, large-scale production of flexible solar cells, fabrication of nanomaterials for increasing energy density of batteries, and nanomaterials that enhance the energy efficiency and performance of electronic devices.
A presentation was made explaining the prospective uses of graphene, which proved that nanotechnology is a vastly growing field. The event also gave some insights into the future of nanotechnology both in terms of current researches to support the common strategic framework and key enabling technologies. The event included an exhibition which involved the participation of 60 companies. The companies that were voted the best exhibitors by attendees include NanoNext, the Esfil Tehno, and the NMPTeAM. On 1st June, around 425 meetings took place that inspired the advancement of networking for technology transfer and laid the foundation for future projects
The President of the National Innovation Office of Hungary, Gyorgy Meszaros, stated that this event has enabled Hungarian researchers to exhibit their nanotechnological innovations to the European nanotechnology community.
The CEO of Spinverse, Pekka Koponen, stated that the active participation of industries, exhibitors, and nanotechnology developers asserts the fact that nanotechnology has become indispensable for growth and competitiveness.
