ANSYS Software Receives TowerJazz Certification for 80nm PDKs and Reference Design Flow

ANSYS, Inc. and TowerJazz, a leader in specialty foundry technology, are working to meet the growing demands for automotive, medical and Internet of Things (IoT) applications where product reliability and robustness are paramount. This collaboration has enabled TowerJazz to certify ANSYS® Totem™ and ANSYS® PathFinder™ software for its 180-nanometer (nm) process family design kits (PDKs) and reference design flow.

The certifications allow customers to use ANSYS tools for designing robust and reliable analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (IC). These ICs are used for complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors, high voltage power management and light emitting diode (LED) applications that cater to consumers, communications, automotive, IoT, industrial and medical markets.

"As analog and more mixed-signal content are integrated into a chip for loT, automotive and medical applications, a robust and foundry-certified power, noise and reliability sign-off flow becomes essential," said Fares Mubarak, vice president and general manager of ANSYS. "By working with TowerJazz, we are able to provide optimized tools and methodologies for shared customers."

Delivering stable power for all modes of operation of an IC is a critical requirement for all applications. To ensure reliable performance across a range of operating conditions, IC designers need tools and methods to identify and mitigate dynamic and static voltage drop, substrate noise coupling, electromigration, and electro-static discharge (ESD) issues. Use of Totem and PathFinder allows for stable power providing enhanced reliability, and thereby improved performance.

"Close collaboration between TowerJazz and ANSYS helped create the PDKs, a reference flow and certification of ANSYS tools for the 180nm process family," said Ori Galzur, vice president of VLSI design center at TowerJazz. "This allows our mutual customers to improve their competitive position in the market with more reliable ICs in terms of both power stability and performance."

The ANSYS portfolio of product offerings will be showcased at the Design Automation Conference (DAC) June 7-11 in exhibit booth #1232. TowerJazz's reference design will be shown at DAC in the ANSYS booth on June 10. A demo of the reference design will be shown at the TowerJazz booth #2608.
