NanoHorizons™, Inc., an emerging leader in applied nanoscale materials, and Faytex Corp., the industry leader in footwear moisture management fabrics, will announce an exclusive partnership in the battle against footwear odor. The announcement will be made at the Summer Outdoor Retailer show, the outdoor industry's premier buying show.
Faytex will now use SmartSilver™ antimicrobial/anti-odor nanotechnology in its Dri-Lex® shoe lining material and has already started working with triathlon equipment innovator Zoot Sports to incorporate the material into its new footwear line.
SmartSilver, The Smarter Anti-Odor and Antimicrobial Answer™, is engineered at the nanoscale to impart permanent high-performance anti-odor/antimicrobial properties to natural and synthetic fibers and fabrics without compromising fabric design or integrity.
"Dri-Lex already offers superior moisture management to pull moisture away from the body," said Faytex spokesperson, "But anytime moisture is involved, bacteria are bound to grow and produce odor, especially in the body's biggest 'sweat hogs' -- the feet. Through this exclusive partnership, we can offer the final piece to creating the perfect comfortable shoe lining that stays dry and odor free for the life of a shoe through the anti-odor nanotechnology that SmartSilver provides."
"Faytex is the industry's recognized leader in high-performance footwear fabrics. Faytex and its Dri-Lex shoe lining material present a perfect opportunity for NanoHorizons to showcase SmartSilver's unmatched anti-odor performance in a challenging odor-generating environment," said Dennis Schneider, Director, Sales and Marketing, NanoHorizons. "SmartSilver's nanoscale technology enables Faytex to maintain all of Dri-Lex's leadership comfort and moisture-movement capabilities and add lab-proven antimicrobial performance -- delivering the perfect solution. Dri-Lex and SmartSilver -- moisture and odor control for the life of your footwear."
Mr. Schneider will be a panelist at FabricLink's prestigious Technical Center industry event on August 10th. SmartSilver fabrics will be on display at Booth 82004, where the SmartSilver nanotechnology experts will be available to help manufacturers and retailers understand how the technology works.
"As we embark on our brand's most significant product launch to date, our innovative ULTRA Footwear line, we're proud to incorporate both Dri-Lex and SmartSilver to create our BarefitT lining," said Elisette Carlson, Director of Marketing, Zoot Sports. "Triathletes do not want to wear socks on race day but do so in order to avoid blisters and chafing caused by excess moisture and sweating in the shoe. Our seamless, antimicrobial, and high performance BarefitT lining is one of the four major solutions that we address in the Zoot ULTRA Footwear."
