Chevy Chase's Clark Griswald and the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, New York City emblazoned with 30,000 environmentally friendly LEDs, have been soundly beaten by Australian efforts. The City of Sydney, Australia last night threw the switch to light up their Christmas tree - and the 58,000 LEDs adorning it.
With almost double the number of lights, the Australians celebrated with fireworks and a concert. Long known for their extraordinary, world leading News Years celebrations, it seems the Australian partying ability is now moving to make environmentally friendly, Christmasses without snow or open fires, the way to go.
