International Council on Nanotechnology Director to Appear on Nanotechnology Television Show

Kristen Kulinowski, director of the International Council on Nanotechnology and executive director for external relations of the Center for Biological and Environmental Nanotechnology at Rice University, joins a diverse group of policymakers, scientists, journalists and community leaders in a lively discussion of the promises and problems of nanotechnology in a new series to begin airing on PBS stations nationwide in April 2008.

The Power of Small will premier with a reception on Wednesday, April 2, at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC.

Led by award-winning journalist John Hockenberry, public radio news anchor and former NBC News correspondent, the series explores nanotechnology in three areas – Privacy, Health and Environment – from scientific, philosophical and public policy perspectives. Kulinowski appears in the third segment – “Environment: Cleaner World or Potential Pollution?”

The Power of Small, which received major funding from the National Science Foundation, is produced by ICAN Productions and Fred Friendly Seminars, Inc., in association with Oregon Public Broadcasting.

The series can be previewed at http://powerofsmall.org/. A schedule of PBS stations currently scheduled to air the entire series is located at http://powerofsmall.org/stationlocator.php. For a profile of the panelists, visit http://powerofsmall.org/topicpages/privacy.php.
