Making the average home and buildings both energy efficient and more pleasant to live in is getting a lot easier with advances in green nanotechnology.
This seminar will explain what "green nanotechnology" is and how it is beginning to impact on everyday materials and systems in the home. Walls, windows, roofs, skylights, lighting, insulation, paints, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, fabrics, entertainment, home safety and security, water and gardens, energy sources, and overall design will all be impacted and improved. What is exciting is that most of these technologies can be produced in commodity volumes which mean low cost.
This is clever, safe science which can be used in existing structures and also enables fascinating new design options. The immediate challenge is to get it happening in the scales needed. The goal is to co-exist, restore and live harmoniously with the natural world, without causing serious decline in our standards of living.
