Omnetics Connector Corporation, the leading manufacturer of miniature high-rel connectors, is now offering a custom molding service on it newly-introduced nano circular connectors. Defense, medical and other high reliability applications are now designing equipment that requires the electrical connectors to be molded into equipment housings. As well as significant savings in space, weight and cost, overmolding also ensures that contamination is minimized, and enables easy sterilization.
Omnetics' new 0.025" pitch Circular Nano series is one of the smallest connector families of its type available which uses a MIL quality contact system. With a total mated length of 0.354" (9.0mm) and outer diameters ranging from 0.122" (3.1mm) to 0.217" (5.5mm), these small connectors provide a rugged and reliable solution in the harshest of operating environments. For customers looking to incorporate these devices into equipment handles, casings or probes etc, the process is simple. First, connector insulators are assembled with pre-wired pins or sockets or connectors that have solder lugs on the back. Assembly drawings or solid models are used to determine the internal dimensions of the fixing that will contain the connectors. Injection over-molding forms the final assembly. A wide range of materials - from soft silicones to hard glossy shells - can be used in tool handles. Custom logos and colors can be incorporated.
Comments Greg Jones, Sales Manager, North America: “By combining what we believe to be one of the world's smallest circular nano connectors with our customizing overmolding process, we are delivering even greater space, weight and cost savings."
Utilising Omnetics' proven Flex-Pin contact system, the circular nano connectors are spaced on 0.64 mm centerlines and are available in 6, 11, 16 and 28 position configurations.
