Background
Professor Kostarelos is the Chair of Nanomedicine & Head of the Centre
for Drug Delivery Research at The School of Pharmacy of the University of London,
a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, a Fellow of the Institute of Nanotechnology
and a Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Professorial Fellow.
He obtained his Diploma and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Department
of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London. Kostas previously was Assistant
Professor of Genetic Medicine and Chemical Engineering in Medicine at Weill
Cornell Medical College in New York City, USA and Deputy Director of Imperial
College Genetic Therapies Centre, London, UK. He was postdoctoral associate
at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and Memorial Sloan-Kettering
Cancer Center in New York.
He is a Senior Founding Member of the American
Society of Nanomedicine, past Treasurer and Board Member of the International
Liposome Society and Advisory Board Member of the European
Foundation for Clinical Nanomedicine. Prof. Kostarelos is the Founding and
Senior Editor of the journal Nanomedicine
(ISI® 2008 Impact Factor: 6.1), sits on the Editorial Board of 'The Journal
of Liposome Research', 'The International Journal of Nanomedicine', and 'Nanomedicine:
Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine'.
