World's first quantum cryptography government network opened for trial in Wuhu city, east China's Anhui province this Monday.
The network uses unidirectional quantum cryptography communication methods and equipments, and network core netted technique. All the methods and techniques are of China's own intellectual property rights.
Safe quantum communication between any two points among the network becomes possible with the technology. A confidential communication channel guarantees transmission security of words and audio-visual materials. Meanwhile, the setup of the network makes it possible for holding video conferences that need enormous communication traffic and safe transmission of large quantity of document, said Guo Guangcan, academician of CAS and researcher at the Key Lab of Quantum Information of the University of Science and Technology of China.
Based on quantum mechanism, the technology guarantees the security of key distribution between two sides to ensure communication safety.
Core devices and equipments of the network, including the photo electric modulation chip are all developed by Chinese institutes and companies, making the network true "home-made products".
Quantum communication, a cross subject of quantum mechanics and classic communication, plays an important part in national security and financial information security, etc, and has high potential for application in other fields.
