SVTC Technologies, the leading provider of development and commercialization services for silicon-based technologies, today marked the delivery of over a million test wafers by honoring a key customer at the 2009 IEEE International Interconnect Technology Conference (IITC).
Representatives of SVTC's Wafer Services and AMTI, SVTC's wafer services partner in Japan, presented a plaque commemorating the millionth wafer to Cabot Microelectronics Corporation, the world's leading supplier of chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) polishing slurries and growing CMP pad supplier to the semiconductor industry, and one of SVTC's first Wafer Services customers. The presentation highlighted SVTC's 15 years of processing test wafers through multiple technology nodes and three wafer size transitions.
"SVTC has been privileged to provide equipment and materials suppliers with an extensive line of test wafers that have helped drive new tool, material and process development throughout the industry," said Joseph Bronson, SVTC's CEO. "Delivering our millionth wafer to Cabot Microelectronics marks a significant milestone in our long-term commitment to give our customers access to the latest materials and structures they need to solve complex development issues."
"SVTC's advanced test wafers provide the infrastructure necessary to help us develop new and more innovative products," said William Noglows, Chairman and CEO of Cabot Microelectronics. "We are delighted that Cabot Microelectronics is able to take part in this momentous occasion and look forward to continuing our strong relationship."
SVTC Wafer Services' million wafers include all those processed for external customers by SVTC's fabs in San Jose and Austin since 1994. "We've helped lead the industry through five or six technology nodes since then," said Frank Tolic, Business Development Manager at SVTC. "Today we are shipping 300mm wafers with 30nm structures on the die as part of our standard 200mm and 300mm portfolio of unique films and patterned test wafers," Tolic said.
SVTC Wafer Services processes over 100,000 wafers per year for customers around the world, and is the leading test wafer supplier to the Japan market.
"AMTI is honored and humbled to be part of this historic occasion. We look forward to future success and continuing to supply Japan's semiconductor customers with SVTC's leading edge test wafers," said Toyoki Nishimoto, AMTI's President. AMTI's customers include Cabot Microelectronics, JSR Corporation, Fuji Film, and Hitachi Ltd. and many other notable semiconductor equipment and materials suppliers. "AMTI's customers require industry-leading quality, reliability, and customer service. This is made possible by SVTC's commitment and dedication as the world's leading test wafer supplier," said Nishimoto.
SVTC Wafer Services' most successful products include 300mm blanket copper wafers and patterned copper wafers for development of etch, cleans, and CMP processes. New products include a 65nm CMOS 300mm monitor wafer for memory testing, and a planned 300mm CMP test wafer for 22nm trench fill processes. SVTC serves customers in Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Europe and North America.
