Recent advances in carbon-based nano-materials and devices have open up myriad opportunities for applications and commercialization.
Nanotechnology's ability to manipulate carbon atoms and organic molecules enables us to create carbon-based nanoscale materials and novel device structures with fundamentally new properties and unprecedented functions. Carbon-based nanotechnology is anticipated to dramatically change every aspect of our lives. Among the diverse and interdisciplinary nature of nanoscience, carbon-based nanoelectronics, nanophotonics, nanochemistry, nanobiology, and nanobiomedicine are the areas attracting wide attention. These areas not only represent novel and unique chemical strategies to make unprecedented functional carbon-based nanomaterials, but also represent wide-range applications of carbon-based nanodevices.
This conference aims to provide a forum for researchers, scientists and engineers from different countries worldwide, who are actively involved in the research on carbon-based nanoscience and nanotechnology, in particular on (1) Synthesis and functionalization of carbon nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, graphene, nano diamonds, etc; (2) Advanced characterization of carbon-based nano-materials such as synchrotron radiation characterization, in situ imaging, surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy, etc; (3) device applications such as organic electronics (OLEDs, OPVs, OTFTs, etc), graphene-, carbon nanotube-, and nano diamond-based prototype devices (cancer diagnosis/cure, biological/chemical sensing, energy conversion/harvesting, catalysis, etc); and (4) modeling and computation in the above areas, to disseminate their latest research results and development achievements.
In addition to the exciting scientific and technological themes, the conference offers a platform to promote and encourage interaction among researchers for cross-fertilization of ideas and collaboration. The program will consist of a series of invited, contributed oral, and poster presentations. In addition, a panel discussion will be held to promote the interaction among scientists and researchers, including discussions of new research directions for carbon-based nano-materials and devices, summary of the current state of the art and future barriers, and projection of future frontiers.
Session Topics will include
- Synthesis of carbon-based nanomaterials: carbon nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, graphene, nanodiamonds, carbon-based molecules, etc.
- Characterization and processing of carbon-based nanomaterials: surface and interface modification, functionalization, assembly and patterning, etc.
- Devices and applications of carbon-based nanomaterials: biological and chemical sensing, energy conversion and harvesting, electronic and photonic applications, catalysis, etc.
- Multiscale modelling and computation in the above areas.
