Renesas Electronics and Telefunken Semiconductors recently declared that Telefunken Semiconductors has procured Renesas’s semiconductor wafer development unit located in Roseville, California.
Renesas Electronics announced this development as being a part of its 100-Day Project declared in July 2010. The company has implemented measures that will help enhance efficiency of production by introducing bigger wafers, finer process nodes, and focusing on manufacturing. The latest development was in keeping with these objectives and to enlarge its semiconductor industry.
Telefunken will use the 200mm line at the facility to produce its analog and mixed-signal, HV devices for its foundry partners. It has also signed a supply contract with Renesas Electronics for production services at the facility. Under the terms of the contract, Telefunken will produce devices in an uninterrupted manner at the unit to be supplied to Renesas’ existing client-base providing the same services and production of high quality.
Renesas Electronics will meet its commitments via its Quality Assurance Center still in existence at the Roseville factory for continued client support in the North American and European region.
