Micromem Applied Sensor Technologies, a unit of Micromem Technologies, and TurboBeads have entered into a strategic marketing deal to develop and market novel nanoparticle/sensor solutions.
The new nanoparticle/sensor platform products can find applications in the chemical, environmental, natural resources, military and biochemical sectors. The patented technology of TurboBeads is a superior magnetic nanocarrier that has covalent chemical properties on its surface. Its high magnetic qualities enable a rapid and effective segregation from liquid volumes. TurboBeads has the expertise and intellectual property in functionalized metallic nanomagnets manufacture in industries such as chemistry, metal extraction, military, environmental, diagnostics and biochemistry.
Chief Executive Officer at Micromem Technologies, Joseph Fuda commented that the marketing deal with TurboBeads offers the company’s sensor platform numerous opportunities and huge audience. As its customer base expands continuously, versatility and solution based design for the customers are now more critical to the company, he said.
Micromem Applied Sensor Technologies’ President, Steven Van Fleet stated that a close partnership that leverages the full functionality of TurboBeads' nanomagnets enables the company to utilize its sensor platform to deal with difficult sensing issues for its customers on the single nanoparticle and molecular level. The company expects this partnership will pave the way to new opportunities and markets for it, he said.
TurboBeads’ Chief Executive Officer, Robert Grass stated that the partnership with Micromem Applied Sensor Technologies enables the company to gear up the extensive application of TurboBeads' nanomagnets. Current projects are already illustrating the advantages of cooperation between magnetic analytics and bead production.
