Electrotechnical University (ETU) and TEKLAB, specialising in providing multipurpose laboratories and electric workstations for educational and industrial purposes, will jointly commercialise a new educational lab that will focus on conducting research programmes and training through a standard set of laboratory exercises.
The collaboration is the first of its kind within the scope of the Finnish-Russian Innovation Alliance on Nanotechnology, which is funded by Finland-Russia Neighbourhood Programme by Finland and maintained by Spinverse. Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Finland and Russia will provide support to this programme.
The NanoLab will facilitate the analysis of and synthesis of nanomaterial through 12 workplaces which can also be used by graduates and students for research programmes and production of prototypes on a small scale. The lab will also use standard educational content from ETU. The software for the programme is provided by scientists from each study area by using both readily available and customised hardware. While ETU provides technical support, TEKLAB will combine logistical and functional aspects and create a wholesome solution. The NanoLab will be kept up to date with latest materials, technologies and educational methods through a customer feedback programme. NanoLab is expected to be ready for delivery by 2012.
TEKLAB has already provided around 1,000 workstations comprising 20,000 and more workstations across 100 countries. Modules provided by TEKLAB cover theoretical lessons and lab practices together to provide a comprehensive educational programme.
