The Indian River State College (IRSC) has inaugurated its advance materials laboratory in the premises of its recently established Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
IRSC and NanoProfessor stakeholders
The lab which has been christened “NanoProfessor Advanced Materials Lab” is a joint initiative of IRSC and NanoProfessor, the nanotechnology education wing of NanoInk.
The Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship which is spread over 65,000 sq.ft at the IRSC campus is designed and built to Silver LEED standards. It houses advanced laboratories aimed to impart the necessary skills for hi-tech employment. The NanoProfessor Advanced Materials Lab is one such initiative and a first of its kind amongst colleges in the Southeast of United States to provide access to cutting edge technology and equipment such as the NanoInk's NLP 2000 Desktop NanoFabrication System, a fluorescence microscope, a nanoparticle characterization instrument, an atomic force microscope amongst others and a syllabus which teaches the fundamental principles of constructing customized nano sized structures all of which was previously taught only to research graduates.
Dr. Edwin Massey, President of IRSC, stressed on the College’s commitment to preparing Florida’s hi-tech work force for employment or entrepreneurship in the nanotechnology sphere. NanoInk’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dean Hart, expressed pleasure in partnering with IRSC for the same. At the inauguration of the NanoProfessor Advanced Materials Lab, Dean Hart presented Dr. Edwin Massey with a picture of a nano-sized logo of IRSC. The logo which consists of 20 nm dots numbering 65,000 and measuring 10 X 10 µm was printed using NanoInk's patented Dip Pen Nanolithography.
