White Paper Released on OLED Lighting

NanoMarkets, an industry analyst firm based here has published a new white paper that discusses the market opportunities for OLED lighting. The paper was drawn from a report released in Q3 of 2007. The paper can be downloaded from the firm's website. There is no cost to access the paper at http://www.nanomarkets.net/products/prod_detail.cfm?prod=6&id=237.

NanoMarkets believes that Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) will play a major role in lighting applications in the future, but how soon this future arrives and how deeply the devices penetrate will depend on a number of factors. In a recent report NanoMarkets predicted that in the long term, the economies of roll-to-roll manufacturing will establish OLED and other printable technologies as major players in mainstream lighting applications. In the short term, innovative designers will have to find ways to put their unique characteristics to clever use in niche and specialty applications. NanoMarkets' paper also mentions that while OLED's share of the overall market is virtually nothing in 2007, OLED lamps are expected to capture about 20% of the printed lighting market within one year and by 2009 will represent almost 50% of the total market. NanoMarkets predicts, further, that OLEDs will represent about $443 million of the overall $619 million lighting market in 2010, a share of over 70%.
