Promoting Nanotechnology within the Food and Drink Industry

The NanoKTN, in conjunction with Leatherhead Food International, is proud to announce the creation of a Focus Group dedicated to raising current awareness of the potential impacts of nanotechnology, and to act as a conduit for the relay of the industry's views on this subject to the Technology Strategy Board and the Government. It will also act as a forum for the creation of consortia wishing to take part in pre-competitive research programmes within nanotechnology applied to the Food and Drink industry.

The inaugural Focus Group meeting will take place on the 27th November and will provide an opportunity for members of the Food and Drink industry to engage with the possibilities offered by emerging micro and nanotechnologies, and to begin shaping the way in which these may be beneficially exploited. In addition, it will also offer a chance to take stock of the Food Standards Agency’s current thinking on the subject. The programme will also introduce forthcoming funding initiatives for pre-competitive research at national and European level, and to detail their potential relevance to nanotechnology applied to the Food and Drink industry. Ample time will be made available to encourage networking and to enable participants to explore their issues of prime concern.
