SiliconBlue Technologies, a manufacturer of custom mobile device (CMD) solutions, has declared that samples of the novel iCE40 Los Angeles mobileFPGA including low-power series (LP) for smartphones and the high-speed (HX–Series) for tablets are available and fully functional.
The LP and HX families that are created by low-power standard CMOS technique on 40nm TSMC offer two times greater logic capacity than 65 nm devices.
Los Angeles LP-Series CMD features less power consumption and is a compact micro plastic BGA having a size of just 2.5 x 2.5mm. It is a perfect processor companion chip model used in smartphones. The LP-Series offers support for HD video and imaging, sensor management, and quick custom connectivity.
Los Angeles HX-Series CMD is less expensive and requires low-power, is suitable for tablets and offers support for rapid custom connectivity and tablet resolution, HD video and imaging, and sensor management. LP and HX devices, providing support for a wide variety of smartphones and tablets, consists of logic cells ranging from 640 to 16K.
Kapil Shankar, CEO of SiliconBlue stated that the company has enhanced Los Angeles CMDs by increasing the capacity of smartphone’s video performance up to 525 Mbps, allowing HD1080p 30Hz (1920 x 1080) and HD720p 60Hz (1280 x 720). To enhance tablets, CMDs support WUXGA (1920x1200) with dual LVDS, HD1080p 30Hz (1920x1080), and HD720p 60Hz (1280x720), he added.
